Abstract
Disney’s Animal Kingdom® has a browse farm encompassing approximately 40 acres of planted material. There are six main plant species cultivated and harvested although others are grown in smaller quantities and additional browse is purchased throughout the year. The program is managed by the Animal Nutrition Center. An outside contractor is responsible for harvesting and maintenance of the fields and Disney Horticulture® assists with irrigation maintenance and pest management. Work is underway to improve the productivity of the fields and find additional plant species in order to increase the diversity of plants available as food for the animals.
