Abstract

In 2023, the Dallas Zoo reimagined its browse procurement and moved the oversight and management of the Browse Program to the Nutrition Department. Through collaboration with multiple departments within the zoo, harvesting from private lands became the focus of a pilot program in 2024. The success of the pilot program led to funding of dedicated Browse positions, vehicles, and equipment for 2025. Partners, both private and public, continue to expand the program.
